Walking on top of the world!! The Annapurna circuit was incredible. We are standing here at 5416m as we celebrate our 'achievement' of crossing the Thorang La pass, the highest in the world!
Kathmandu. We spent most of our time here getting ready for our trek, shopping, emailing and eating! But we did check some things out, Thamel area, the burning ghats and Darbar Square.
Views along the Annapurna circuit, leading up to the pass and afterwards! As you can see the terrain was quite diverse. Tiered rice fields, rolling hills, forests, snow capped mountains, rivers, farmland, riverbeds... as well as prayer wheels, temples, bridges... WOW!
It was utterly amazing how much the porters carried on their backs/heads.
And the local villagers were very friendly. Though we must have said 'Namaste' a hundred times a day!
If it wasn't the porters carrying the goods, it was the many donkey/mule trains we came across (what a potpourri of smells that was).
Before heading up to the 'pass' we stayed in Manang for an 'acclimatisation day' so we decided to ascend 400m and visit the Tashi Lama. He blessed us and wished us good luck for our 'pass day'.
The day of the pass! We became 'achievers' by crossing the world's highest pass called Thorang La, 5416m!! What a day!!!
The Irish.... enough said! Actually, we had a fantastic time with the 'lads' and there was always someone or something to laugh at!! Thanks for the great memories, Gary, John, Barry, Nigel and The Daw!
Just relaxing after a long days journey in the guesthouses with friends that we met along the way!
Now, if you were a woman, where would you relieve yourself? Can anyone guess where Jill went? This was the bathroom Jill had to use at the bus station when we were leaving Pokhara.
